This month, we had the pleasure of working with Amy of @amyleeactive to create some delicious recipes for you. Amy specialises in healthy sweets that are high-protein, sugar-free and full of superfoods.
In this interview, Amy shares what sparked her interested in healthy recipe creation, how she eats to support her active lifestyle, how she stays healthy while travelling and more! Read on to hear what she has to say.
Hi Amy! Thanks for taking the time to answer a few of our questions. To start, do you mind telling us how your interest in healthy recipe development began?
Pleasure! I was always interested in health and nutrition but found it hard to find ready-made, healthy desserts with ingredients I actually recognised, so I set out to make my own. 🙂
What’s your favourite recipe that you’ve ever made?
Anything chocolate! But if I had to name one, probably my post-workout choc pomegranate mousse tart.
You have a specific focus on recipes that are high-protein. Why is that?
Eating a diet that is high in quality plant-based protein keeps you fuller for longer, maintain and build lean muscle, and it can also help you burn off fat. It helps the body maintain and repair hair, skin, muscles, and bones.
Your Instagram handle doesn’t lie – You really are very active. What type of activity do you enjoy most?
I love resistance training for strength, reformer pilates, and also going for walks with friends!
How do you keep yourself from getting bored or burnt out by your workout routine?
I will always have some kind of strength training program I do at myself in the gym but I like mixing that up by trying different classes!
What foods or nutrients do you think are most important for recovery?
Protein (as mentioned above), and my favourite sources of this are yoghurt, protein powder, and homemade protein desserts, of course!
Do you have any go-to snacks for before or after a workout?
I normally train fasted in the morning! But post-workout I like yoghurt mixed with protein powder and some fruit.
What does your grocery shopping list look like?
Plenty of seasonal fruit and veg for meal prep and healthy snacks for the week. I also like having some healthy chocolate or ice cream on hand.
You travel a lot. Do you have a top destination?
Anywhere hot and sunny! In Australia, I love exploring different parts of Queensland. Overseas, I love New York and Paris.
What are your tips for staying healthy while on the go?
Always carry a drink bottle filled with filtered water – often thirst can be mistaken for hunger, so you don’t want to eat unnecessarily!
We love hearing about how people enjoy their Cocobella. How do you work Cocobella products into your daily routine?
I love Cocobella natural coconut yoghurt and flavouring it with fruit! I also love it as a substitute for sour cream on top of salads or corn chips with homemade guacamole. It has the best creamy texture and flavour, and best of all, it’s all-natural. Love it!
